To José Manuel Rosas, the jewelry influence goes back from his grandgrandfathers, both from maternal and paternal side, which means, from 1840. From the paternal side features the company Rosas de Portugal, Lda, founded in 1890, which José Manuel Rosas was managing partner.
José Manuel Rosas has been known for his self-taught character but the important family heritage was obviously decisive.

BEGINNING WITH NEW MARKETS

With 100% of its production to exportation, ROSIOR exhibited in Vicenza, Basel and Munich, where new orders drove ROSIOR for a strong growth. The following years were focused on developing the production achieving 80 direct employees and more than 200 external cooperators. ROSIOR kept its presence in Basel and Vicenza during 29 years.

Created by the International Gold Corporation, Secretary of State for Culture and AIORN, José Manuel Rosas is assigned the first place of the contest by one of its creations, a cross.

ROSIOR exhibits its most recent creations on the magnificent halls of the Portuguese Embassy. The exhibition was followed by a cocktail and had the presence of important personalities of French aristocracy and politics as well as representatives of big French business companies.

The job developed in Rosas de Portugal was focused on the production and export, visiting European customers and being on the Munich, Basel and Vicenza fairs. José Manuel Rosas decided that, even with the positive future that was expecting him on the family company, it was not enough to realize his ideas. He had to create his own company, alone.

EARNING EXPERIENCE

This year, ROSIOR was contacted by Cartier for the production of some pieces of "Les Must de Cartier". The relationship remained for 5 years that worth important background and knowledge.

EXPANDING OVERSEAS

During 15 yearsa ROSIOR participated twice a year on the New York fair. Soon the U.S market turned out to be the main customer for ROSIOR supplying american companies such as Tiffany’s & Co, Saks Fifth Ave, Sterling, Fortunoff, Zales, Finley’s, Blomingdale's and Macy’s. Later ROSIOR participated on the Miami fair too.

IDEIAS INOVADORAS PRIZE

The prize “Prémio de Ideias Inovadoras”, recognised by the Portuguese Institute for support to companies “IAPMEI” and the bank “CGD”, for the invention and patent of a production process was offered by the Portuguese minister for the industry and energy, Eng. Mira Amaral.

ROSIOR maintains since 1994 his trademark in Switzerland which allows ROSIOR jewels to be sold with the Portuguese registration in Casa da Moeda – Contrastaria de Portugal.

GEMS DREAM CLUTCH

José Manuel Rosas started the creation of one of the most important jewels ever. The bespoke Clutch Gems Dream combines 4732 gems weighting 420cts and took 2 years to manufacture. A local TV report (RTP) concerning this jewel can be seen here.
